Dr. Thomas Strub Learns the Best and Newest in Dentistry of 2013

The theme of this year’s Iowa Dental Association (IDA) annual meeting celebrated 150 years of smiles. As part of Dr. Thomas J. Strub’s commitment to his continuing education as a cosmetic dentist, the IDA convention was one of two annual conferences that he attended this year.

One seminar Dr. Strub found especially salient was a session held by Dr. Gordon Christensen, called “The Christensen Bottom Line 2013.” Gordon Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD, ScD, is the owner of Practical Clinical Courses, a Utah-based company that provides resources for the continuing education of dentists in the U.S. and evaluates all the new materials and techniques in dentistry. Consequently, he is one of the biggest names in dentistry, notes Dr. Strub.

Dr. Strub says Christensen’s seminar provided the latest information for a diverse range of general and cosmetic dentistry topics, including:

  • Porcelain Veneers
  • Dental impression materials
  • Bonding agents
  • Tooth-colored filling materials
  • Sealant procedures for young children
  • Mini dental implants as a cost-effective option for patients on a lower budget
  • Porcelain materials for crowns

As a reflection of excellence, keeping our practice up-to-date on the latest research and techniques for patients is something Dr. Strub highly prioritizes. “It was a great way in a short amount of time – a six-hour time period – to review all of the new materials that are coming out from the different companies,” he says. “It’s so important to do that because one can’t keep up just sitting in his office trying to find out that information. You really have to do a lot of research, a lot of reading, or go to courses like this that really give you that straight story on what works and what doesn’t work.”
