The DIAGNOdent diagnostic laser is an innovative, small laser that is used to detect very early areas of decay (cavities) in your teeth. It emits light energy into your tooth, which is reflected back as fluorescent light energy. Dr. Strub can then detect any early changes in your tooth structure by comparing this reflected light energy to that of a healthy tooth. The DIAGNOdent diagnostic laser is over 90% effective in detecting very early decay (cavities) compared to the traditional use of probing and poking with a pointed explorer that is only 50-60% effective with early decay detection.
